ある出来事が起きた直後に、意外な別の出来事や急な変化が続くことを表します。
〜が早いか
前の動作が起こるのとほとんど同時に、次の出来事が起こることを表す書き言葉的な表現です。
〜や／〜や否や
前の動作が終わるのとほぼ同時に、予想外のことや勢いのある次の動作が起こることを表す硬い表現です。
