Describes an action that has begun but is not complete, or an intermediate stage in which a change is about to occur.

There is a half-eaten loaf of bread on the desk.風邪は治りかけていますが、まだ無理をしないでください。
Your cold is starting to heal, but don't push yourself too hard just yet.彼は何か大事そうなことを言いかけて、やめてしまった。
He was about to say something important but stopped.もうだめかと諦めかけたとき、ヒーローがやってきた。
Just when I was about to give up, a hero came along.狼男は、人間から狼に変身しかけて、途中で止まってしまった。
The werewolf was about to transform from a human to a wolf, but stopped mid-transformation.テストで最後の問題を書いている途中で時間になり、書きかけのまま出しました。
