The direction of sunset

夕（ゆう）方（がた）、太（たい）陽（よう）が沈（しず）むほうです。北（きた）が上（うえ）の地（ち）図（ず）では左（ひだり）側（がわ）になります。

USAGE

使うときのポイント

Use に for a location to the west, の for the west of an area, and を for facing west, as in 西を向く. 東 is the opposite.
